Relax...Take a Bath

Long summer days are upon us and with all the things to do this summer it is easy to get stressed out! If your working full time it can be hard to take advantage of the sunny weather or spend time with your family. Being pressed for time during the week means  jammed packed weekends from camping, picnics, lake days, and having summer fun, it can add up! If you don't work outside the home you can be just as busy with your summer gardening, taking the kids to the pool, doing summer activities, and keeping up with all the family needs! We want to remind you to stop and take a break from everything...even this summer. Fill up your bath tub, light candles, and use a good bath salt or milk to relax in. Just relax for a while because you are going to need your energy to make it a great summer. If your getting low on bath supplies we got ya covered: soap, bath milk, and candles. Take some time for YOU!

We want to make you all aware of a few things we sell that are made in the USA. Often times our furniture selection is made in the States. Pickin' Finds Turned into Something GREAT!

Last week we talked about finding neat, old items and where to go look for them. This week we want to show you some ideas of what you can do with the old things you find! Check it out:

Old, rusty planter-
Sprayed black and put a glass top on it- you now have a beautiful side table.

Windows are some of our favorite! You can do anything we old windows-use them as a back drop to spice up a porch. This one is used for our Cottage Garden Patio:

Shutters are great for display pieces:

Rusty Tin is very fun as well! You can use it for chalk boards, magnet holders, or whatever you can come up with:

The goal with this is to have fun, get creative, and make some really neat pieces with a low cost investment.

Other Ideas:
  • Old chandelier- take the bulbs and wiring out and replace with candles. Spray paint the candle chandelier any color you want.
  • Old boards with vintage hooks can be used to make a coat hanger.
Until next time,
~RW

    Hello!

How many of you like to go pickin'?? What is pickin'? At the Rusty Wagon we LOVE to go pickin' and find old items and turn them into something creative. Janine is our merchandiser at the store and she is great when it comes to pickin'. We chatted with her to find out just where all she goes to find really old, neat things like shutters, screen doors, old windows, picket fences, and much more.

She recommends when looking for anything old and unique for art projects, store displays, or whatever reason you may have up your sleeve head out to:
    • AUCTIONS
    • HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
    • YARD SALES
    • FLEA MARKETS
    • CONSIGNMENT STORES
    • HUMANE SOCIETY THRIFT STORES
    • GOODWILL
Once you discover your old finds for REALLY CHEAP prices you will begin to get super creative and make all kinds of items! But what can you do with all these really cool items?? Check back for our next blog we are going to give you secrets on what do with old pieces...you're going to love this one!!
