Country- All the many styles!

Good afternoon! Today we want to blog about the different styles of country décor and make you aware that the Rusty Wagon has the different styles in the store.  When trying to achieve a country look you can take on many approaches:

·Primitive
·Farmhouse
·Rustic
·Urban

With the Urban look there are many items that can be used. Old windows can be used for picture frames, an old dresser drawer  can be used for a spice rack or shelf, and you can even take the head of a old rake and use it for a necklace holder. Collecting old “junk” items can often be turned into something very urban and country. We have opened a new section at the RW that is called “Urban Country”  come out and take a look at this section to see what we have used to make an urban look.

Maybe you don’t want to take the Urban approach to country…maybe you want to stick with the rustic theme. Rustic decor is bringing a lot of the outdoors inside the home. This can be achieved by using  log furniture, pine cone art, wild life painting and more.

Primitive Country is used for creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. You typically use  country, early-American furniture, and pieces that you have collected throughout the years to create a primitive country look through your home.  Primitive decorating can be done on a budget by purchasing accessories  such as pillows, signs, baskets, blankets, and wall décor.  You can take newer products and add with the collection of older items to make a beautiful primitive room. Look at some of these products to create a Primitive idea:

What country looks do you like? Do you go for the farmhouse look or something more primitive? We want to hear from you and see what you like in your home. Come by the Rusty Wagon and let us show you the different types of décor that create the look you are going for.

Hope to see you soon!

What a great way to kick off our blog with a Spring is in the air post....I don't know about you but here at the Rusty Wagon we are ready for spring and all it has to offer. March will mark the month we get a lot of our new spring products in and with a beautiful day like today we are ready for new spring looks. What room in your home could use a new spring look? We are always looking for new ideas to keep things "Fresh" in the house.

A spring thought for your home:

spring table

This is a great idea on how to bring spring indoors and on your kitchen table!
You will need:
  • Burlap
  • Glue stick
  • Any greenery you can find outside
  • A fun center piece
  • Spring place mats
  • Candles
Burlap is a "hot item" right now and you can get it for really cheap! As you see we have taken a burlap bag and cut it open and laid it across the table. We have taken little strips of burlap and wrapped it around candles (this is where you use your glue stick) and we have taken greenery from the great outdoors to make a candle ring. Lastly, take spring colored napkins and cut more burlap strips and tie them around the napkin. Finish the napkin ring with a fun piece of greenery like rosemary or thyme and put it in the center of the napkin ring. Come by the Rusty Wagon for spring place mats and WOW- you have just turned your plain dining room table to a instant spring sensation. Next time you stop by the store see our beautiful spring table on display.

Well that is all for now friends but check back here for great tips, tricks, and a whole lot of Rusty Wagon love..
